I took part in a photoshoot with the clothing brand Lovia a couple of months ago. You can see some pictures of the shoot here, and also lean about a very conscious line of new Finnish fashion!
I had a lot of fun participating in this event, so thanks to the arrangers of art@bars and of course to the lovely restaurant Wanha Makasiini for hiring me to come and draw there!
Next up, is of course the opening for “Minkä tähden täällä ollaan?” at Uusi Kipinä, but after that me and my “atelier roomies” will be opening our studios for visitors. The event takes place the 20th of September and consists of 45 places to visit in the South Karelia region, all of them listed here.
We decided to donate one of the horse drawings I made to a retirement home in the town my grandfather lives in. The idea is that it will stir good memories in these people, most of whom have worked with horses in their youth.
The article in Finnish can be read here.
Posted up some more croquis drawings at my Pinterest account. I’m going to have some of them for sale at the summer gallery Katariina in Lappeenranta (open 1.7.-10.8.2014.), and also during the Imatra Big Band Festival.
Here are some more horse drawings I did last year. The theme is the same as in the ones in this post.
While painting my diploma pieces last year, I wanted to do something on my free time that was different – to draw, fairly small, and without the pressure of having to show the results to anyone. The inspiration behind these is the horsemeat scandal of 2013, and the questions it raised about both what we eat and also how we view horses.
